Subject: Vision For The Future
Vision For The Future

By Drew Earl
Executive Coordinator
In 1976 a 59 year old entrepreneur borrowed some money from friends, and opened a wholesale warehouse (in an abandoned aircraft hanger) in San Diego California. It was a weird idea, they would sell products to small stores and to the public if people would buy in case lots.

The plan did not work very well. After a 2.5 million dollar investment, and a first year loss of $750,000.00, the future looked real grim. They hung in and were thrilled after 24 months of struggle to claim a $5,000.00 profit for their second year. To get people to come into their store, they parked their cars in front of the door to make it look like people were shopping there. They never gave up.

Today, Sol Price enjoys a warehouse for every day of the year, 365 of them world wide, and they post sales of 3.5 million dollars every hour. The little enterprise is called COSTCO. (formerly Price Club) During the formulative months and years of an enterprise, the focus must be on the current situation, (parking cars at the front door) with a vision of the future, not the present.

I have just finished a 13,000 mile tour across seven time zones. Every stop was an adventure. Every visit was a warehouse with the cars parked at the door. Every person I met held a vision of a bright future with a knowledge of the hard task at hand. I salute all of the wonderful people who make this great opportunity work.

I thank the leaders who have acted on faith and hard work to open the doors of opportunity to anyone who is willing to go for their dream. I congratulate all of you who attended our events at Oahu, Orlando, Ottawa, Exton, San Jose, Houston, San Diego, and Dallas. You are part of a story that will be told for many years to come, and your names remembered and revered as the
DWG International Pioneers.

I can't attempt to name all the names of the leaders who made these events happen, because there are so many who served silently and without recognition. The behind the scenes folks who "parked by the front door." In respect for your secret service to our business, we will simply express to everyone who helped, that we love you and appreciate your help deeply. I would like to forward the words of one special person who continues to inspire and motivate all of us. During the past few months his constant encouragement has caused us all to reflect on our own abilities and work ethic. He has endured a life threatening illness and very expensive treatment. His sweet wife has had back surgery and while all this was happening, their car was stolen and all of their DRY WASH 'n GUARD stolen, including their detailing equipment. In spite of all this, they remained cheery and motivating on voicemail and at the meetings, (including the Orlando Regional) He refers to himself as the "Blind Joker" but we love him and know him as Joe Hershey and his lovely bride Dorothy. After 38 years of blindness, this car detailer sent me a voice mail and simply reminded me that "quitters NEVER win, and winners NEVER quit." (Joe uses touch to determine what parts of the car have product on, and which parts don't. You should try it, it works! Close your eyes and detail your car this week.)
Lets keep the momentum going. In fact, lets step it up. Put out signs, wear the shirts, pass out the flyers and cards, mail out the samples. It's working folks. We are having record sales month after month and you are the key reason. In closing, let me invite all of the many friends we have that have been reluctant to get active with us. It is a good time now. We have paved the way for you to start up, and we invite you into our active family. We want you to succeed and look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas at our International Convention. Please come!
Again, thank you to everyone!
We are DWG International. We are "Simply the Best."
